Wilson Boynton, CET

President | Lead Instructor

Wilson is the President and Founder of ACT – Advanced Composites Training; the first privately-owned composites training provider in Canada, which began its operations in 1996 as the training division of the parent company, Renaissance Aeronautics Associates Inc., founded 4 years prior in 1992.

Since that time, Wilson has become a leader in the Composites Training industry, expanding ACT’s applications from Aviation & Aerospace into Marine structures, Military Defense, Wind Energy, and Automotive sectors. In recognition of his achievements, Wilson has been the recipient of several awards, including the Canadian Aviation Maintenance Council’s prestigious ‘Outstanding Individual Award’ and the ‘Gordon B. Rayner Award’ for his exemplary career as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, a Teacher, and a Public Servant.

Lora is your go-to contact when it comes to questions about the ACT training experience.

A knowledgeable and experienced professional, Lora can assist you with finding the right courses for your unique goals, providing excellence in Customer Experience every step of the way. With a background in international Business Management and Project Coordination in the Editorial/ Publishing industry, she expertly handles operations and oversees the management of ACT’s wide range of services.

Albeit new to the Composites industry, her ability to learn about advanced composites in her short time with ACT is not only a testament to her brilliance, but a further attestation to the expertise of Lead Instructor, Wilson Boynton, and the comprehensive training programs we offer.

A History of Credibility and Experience

1992

Renaissance Aeronautics Associates Inc. [RAA] was founded, offering composite materials consulting and repair services to the Aviation & Aerospace industries.

1996

RAA established it’s official Training Division, Advanced Composites Training [ACT], and achieved Transport Canada (TC) Approval as an AMO – Approved Maintenance Organization for composite aircraft structural repair, TC Approval as an ATO – Approved Training Organization for composite structures, and the CAMC – Canadian Aviation Maintenance Council Accreditation for composite structures repair training.

1997

The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) presents ACT’s Founder and President, Wilson J. Boynton, CET with the George Burwash – Langford Technology Award for establishing the first privately owned Canadian training institute to achieve TC and CAMC approval & accreditation for aircraft composite structural repair training.

2005

The ACT diversified its training capabilities, creating courses for Marine, Wind Turbine, Automotive, and Military Defense applications, while continuing to serve its Aviation & Aerospace roots.

2008

ACT achieved American FAA – Federal Aviation Administration acceptance for I.A. – Inspector Authorization Renewal Training for its complete list of Aircraft Composites training courses.

2009

ACT was contracted by the Cessna Aircraft Company to write the Structural Repair training program for the new Cessna Corvalis all-composite aircraft and achieved the Certificate of Approval as a Cessna Approved Training Facility.

2011

ACT repatriated its headquarters to London, ON, opening the doors to our current facility; purpose-built to provide the highest quality training services in composites, and bonded metal technologies.

2019

ACT was contracted by NASA – the American National Aeronautics and Space Administration to provide composite materials and process training for the Quality Assurance Engineers at the JPL – Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA who then utilized this training in their work on the launch of the MARS Perseverance Rover in 2021.

Today

Our reputation for excellence has stayed with us throughout more than 30 years in business, across 40 nations worldwide, along with maintaining a 100% employment rate for our graduates. ACT continues to set industry standards and provide the technical and hands-on skills that our clients require with quality they can count on.

Our Training Certificates bear course approvals from the American [FAA] Federal Aviation Administration for Inspection Authorization (IA) Refresher training in accordance with current FAA guidance in Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Order 8900.1, Volume 3, Chapter 56 § 65.93(a)(4).
