ACE Program – Accelerated Composites Essentials
Prerequisites:
Prior composites training (ACT’s Modules #1 and #2) or equivalent industry experience is highly recommended.
Description:
This course combines a broad range of the subject matter and best practices instructed in ACT’s Modules 1, 2 & 3, RBMS, RIP, RPT courses. A perfect refresher course for seasoned industry professionals or for those looking for a fast, in-depth introduction to composite materials and repair technologies.
Multi-Media presentations combined with hands-on shop projects will emphasize the “Applied Technology” aspects of working with advanced composite materials, for manufacturing & structural repair operations applicable to aircraft, automotive, marine and aerospace applications.
Topics covered in this intensive 5-day course are tailored to the specific requests of the Trainees. Meaning, that the theory and ‘Hands-On’ shop projects are customized to address the types of materials, processes, structures and repair methods applicable to the trainee’s requirements. Examples include:
- Damage types and causes for both manufacturing and in-service composite structures
- NDT technologies, an overview of ‘Tap testing’, ultrasonic and thermography methods
- Lightning Strike Protection (LSP) repair methods for Airbus, Boeing, etc.
- Basic composite laminate design principals, thermal properties of materials / structures
- Hot Bonder operations, cure cycle development, heat sinking, autoclave operations
- Pre-preg fibers, laminating & vacuum bagging techniques
- Hands-on projects for laminate structural repairs
- Composite materials management, storage & shipping
