POSITION SUMMARY:

With minimal supervision the Wind Turbine Composite Technician must utilize skills and training to safely perform repair and retrofit work on wind turbine components.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

  • Assess, plan and perform composite repairs as required.
  • Perform basic and complex fiberglass repairs on wind turbine blades, nacelles and nose cones.  This includes reading and following work instructions, layup schedules as well as using tools and techniques typical of the composite repair blade.
  • Document repair progress and prepare repair reports.
  • Liaise with clients and site operations crew to ensure scope of job is understood and well executed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with wind turbine blade repair is preferred.
  • Ability to complete multi-layer structural repairs.
  • Able to calculate mixing ratios and curing times of composite repair materials.
  • Knowledge of lightning protection system testing and repair.

The following qualifications are not required but would be considered an asset:

  • Certified Composite Technician Training Certificate
  • Siemens blade repair and TSWA certifications
  • IRATA Rope Access Level I, II or III Certification
  • Experience working from suspended work platforms
