RBMS – Module 1 – Repair of Bonded Metal Structures

Cost

USD $2,810.00

Central to the manufacturing of aluminium aircraft structures is the requirement to BOND the components together, as well as installing mechanical fasteners. No single operation is more important to metal bonding than the preparation of the Adherent Surfaces. ACT’s RBMS Module 1 provides hands-on instruction in the most common practices and materials used for metal-to-metal and metal-to-composite structural bonding operations.

Description:

Combining theory and practice of the essential materials, techniques, and processes involved in the preparation and repair of bonded metal structures.
Hands-on projects involve the use of PASA, PANTA, PACS, BoeGel, and other metal treatment processes for skin and core replacement.  Extensive training on state-of-the-art Hot Bonding equipment is included.

Topics covered in this 5-day course include:

  • Aluminium surface preparation using various treatment methods
  • Essential knowledge of structural adhesives
  • Adhesive cure cycles and methods for accelerated cures
  • Aluminium honeycomb core materials, cleaning and treatments
  • Vacuum bagging techniques
  • Phosphoric Acid Non-Tank Anodizing or ‘PANTA’ process and the BoeGel process
  • Health & Safety; handling and disposing of substances, composite shop practices
  • Utilizing Hot Bonder units for controlled accelerated cures of bonded structural repairs

Prerequisites: Prior composites experience or training is not required.

Accreditation:

FAA – Federal Aviation Administration acceptable towards Inspection Authorization (IA) Renewal Training.
